English continues as the major language in communicating ideas and thoughts on a global scale. Because it has fast become the world’s most widely used and commonly spoken language today, the need to learn English for young children has increased exponentially. With these, Our Lady of Caysasay Academy has regarded July as the English Month. Since almost every aspect of a child’s life now involves and requires some degree of English knowledge, various activities and competitions were conducted (Poem recitation and Choral recitation for grades 1 and 2; Story reading and Dramatic reading for grades 3 and 4; Declamation and Chamber theater for grades 5 and 6) to provide a medium for the acquisition of language as well as the promotion of the development of the whole child. This year’s search for the “Little Lord and Lady of English” has added a lot of fun and thrill to the celebration!
To strengthen parental engagement in establishing positive education and health behaviors among the children and young adolescents, parent-child activity was also held. (Grades 1 and 2 – Poetry Book Designing; Grades 3 and 4 – Story of My Life; Grades 5 and 6 – Let’s Write Together)
Homer Simpson said: “English! Who needs that? I’m never going to England.” No, but for many people, English is the language of opportunity!
