“Bible in Conversational Filipino” was honored as the Best Public Service Radio Ad at the recently concluded 40th Catholic Mass Media Awards held at the Star Theatre, CCP Complex, Pasay City, November 14, 2018.
The radio ad is about having the “Pinoy Version” of the New Testament - a bible translated in contemporary Filipino language which is aimed at young readers.
The entry was written by Xyra Audrey Arango and Leanne Jane Navarro, Grade 12 STEM students. According to them, they did not expect to win because all the other finalists are equally excellent. The voice talents behind the radio advertisement are Angelica Landicho, Hannah Faye Asinas and Rafael Balino.
On hand that night to receive the award was the entire team including their adviser, Mr. Armyr Encarnacion. “Kaisa nyo po ang aming paaralan sa patuloy na pag gamit ng media bilang instrumento ng pagpapalaganap ng kagandahang asal at pagsuporta sa misyon ng ating simbahan.”, as Mr. Encarnacion expressed his utmost gratitude to the CMMA Foundation for continuously recognizing values oriented media outputs in the country.
Meanwhile, “Almost Human”, another entry of Our Lady of Caysasay Academy was also part of the Top 3 Finalists for the Best Public Service TV Ad category. The said commercial was directed by Kristine Angel Ginete with the help of fellow Grade 12 STEM students Klyde Aeron Leonor and Regine Mayuga. The cast includes Jan Emmanuel Semaña, Juliana Marie Evangelista, Cassandra Castañeda, Gwyneth Irish Encarnacion and Neil Espino. Prior to the CMMA recognition, the said TV Ad was also awarded in the 2nd Rotary PSA Festival in Makati as part of the top 5 finalists.
The theme for this year’s celebration of their ruby anniversary is based from Pope Francis’ World Social Communication Day message, “The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32).
